The Ploughboys are one of Chicago's favorite Irish bands. Combining traditional folk and rebel songs with high energy jigs and reels, The Ploughboys have been performing throughout the Midwest for nearly 20 years. What started out as a few friends playing some songs at a St. Patrick's Day house party has grown into a traveling house party, with stops throughout the area's favorite Irish pubs and festivals. Three of the band members have been friends since middle school, and with the help of Arthur Guinness and John Jameson, they have managed to remain friends for over 30 years. Band members include Geoff Malone (guitar, vocals), Jason Trtan (bass, vocals), Max Dunne (uilleann pipes, whistle, vocals), and Marty Walsh (bodhran, vocals). Their repertoire includes songs from artists like The Clancy Brothers, Wolfe Tones, Christy Moore, The Pogues, and Gaelic Storm. Along with an extensive Irish music catalog, The Ploughboys also perform songs from bands like The Beatles, Bo Deans, and Paul Simon. So come on down to the pub, grab a pint (or two!), and enjoy the cráic, Ploughboys-style!
